Kolo

Kolo Compete

Four competitions.
One Liberia.

Kolo is looking for cooks, performers, hustlers and people who know this country better than anybody. Every episode winner takes US$50 from Kolo, plus whatever the sponsors add. You do not need a Kolo account, you do not need to live in Monrovia, and it costs nothing to enter.

The four shows

Every show travels. Kolo comes to communities, markets, schools and counties rather than asking the whole country to come to a studio in Monrovia.

KCC

Kolo Country Cook

“4 cooks. One market. One kitchen. One champion.”

Four cooks draw a Liberian dish and a budget, shop the same market against the clock, then cook it on a coal pot. Judges score taste, whether the oil rises, authenticity and the final plate.

  • Palm butter, cassava leaf, torborgee, palava sauce
  • Budgeting and bargaining count as much as cooking
  • Best for: home cooks, market cooks, cook-shop owners

Kolo Street Talent

“From the street to the spotlight.”

A travelling talent search. Kolo arrives in a community and people audition on the spot. Four go through to a challenge round, two reach the final, and the champion gets a cash prize plus real promotion.

  • Singing, rap, dance, comedy, spoken word, acting, traditional performance, instruments
  • Judged on talent, creativity, stage presence and originality
  • Best for: anyone who has been told they should be on a stage

Kolo Hustle Challenge

“Small money. Big idea.”

Everybody gets the same small starting capital and a few hours to turn it into as much profit as they can. Then they stand in front of judges and explain what worked, what failed, and how they would grow it.

  • Food, service, retail or something nobody expected
  • Judged on profit, creativity, strategy, customers and potential
  • Best for: marketers, traders, makers, anyone who already hustles

Kolo Country Challenge

“Know the land. Know the people. Know Liberia.”

A cultural adventure through a community or county: questions on history, food, language and landmarks, a real-world task, a hunt for a hidden place, then 60 seconds of rapid-fire Liberia.

  • Pound cassava, find ingredients, learn a phrase, read a clue
  • A different county every episode, all fifteen over time
  • Best for: people who know their county inside out

How entering works

Nothing is decided by the form. It is how Kolo finds you.

1

You send your details

A few minutes. Name, phone, county, and a short answer about why you should be picked. Free, and no Kolo account needed.

2

Kolo reviews it

A person reads every entry and checks it against the rules for that show. We do not decide by who applied first.

3

We contact you either way

By WhatsApp, a call or SMS, or email if you gave one — whether you are through to the next stage or not.

4

You compete

If you are selected we agree a date and a location with you before anything is filmed.

Filming dates are not set yet. Kolo Compete is taking entries now so the production team can plan where to travel first. Entering does not guarantee a place on a show, and we will never ask you for money to enter, to be selected, or to appear.

Ready?

One form, about five minutes. You can enter more than one competition — send a separate entry for each.
